About Us

In 1995, John Maurer started a photography business in his living room. Two years later, operations moved to 34 E. 2^nd St. (right above the Ashland Monument Company), where John and his team have been creating and capturing great experiences for customers ever since.

Our team consists of two full time Photographers, two Digital Artists, one Office Manager/Portrait Consultant, and one Office Assistant. Through an ongoing partnership with Ashland University, our studio also provides singular opportunities for students looking to hone their craft and get “on the job” training through part time employment and internships.

John’s wife Laurie is an 8^th grade math teacher, assistant varsity girls’ soccer coach at Ashland High School and the 8^th grade girls’ basketball coach. The two are members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

In addition to being a photographer, John has also always had a talent for singing. He has been singing in barbershop quartets for more than two decades. He is currently a member of the Fun Center Chordsmen out of Mansfield, Ohio and is the tenor in the quartet Home Edition.

Giving back to our community is a big part of who we are and what separates Maurer Photography from our competition. In addition to being involved in the community, we feel a great responsibility to work with others to make our town a better place to live.

Each year, we contribute, sponsor, or donate products and services to many area organizations. It’s an honor to give back a community like ours—we are more than happy to support those who support us, as well as others in need.
